Equality Duty

Buckshaw is a friendly and caring school; a diverse and inclusive family.  We are a smaller than average-sized primary school with seven classes. 33% of our pupils are disadvantaged compared to an average of 23% within the local authority. Although the majority of pupils are from white British backgrounds, 22% of pupils have a different ethnicity, with 11% speaking English as an additional language. The proportion of pupils who have special educational needs (23%) is above average (13% LA 21/22 and 15% National 21/22).

We believe the school has an important role in the community, and fostering good relations is a central part of our work to build community and social cohesion in the local area.
